Last week, our CEO Becky Regan, along with members of our CHARGE solar partnership from National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and Collective Energy, spoke at the White House Roundtable on Leveraging the IRA for Safety-Net Healthcare Providers. We were honored for the opportunity to discuss CHARGE, which works to provide access to reliable power to health centers through solar microgrids, and support the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that helps lever this work.
With support from the IRA, the CHARGE Partnership has set a goal of facilitating or building clean resilient microgrids on 1,000 Community Health Centers across the US in the next 10 years. Approximately 70% of them, or 700 locations, will be in Justice40 and/or low-income communities. These projects will offset at least 75,000 tons of carbon per year, benefit almost two million patients, and save these health centers over $150 million dollars on project costs.
